The Olympic program of shooting sport consists of 15 different events. This event consists of nine men’s event and six women’s event in three different disciplines, with five events for rifles, five for pistols and five for shotguns. Each round consists in a qualification and a final round.
Shooting has now become a popular Olympic sport in India. Of total 26 Olympic medals won by India, 4 have come from shooting which includes Gold by Abhinav Bindra in 2008. The Indian shooters who have made India proud on Olympic stage are: Abhinav Bindra, Rajvardhan Rathore, Vijay Kumar, Gagan Narang, Ronjan Sodhi and Anjali Baghwat.
